SERVICES:As the designated coordinating agency for substance abuse services in Macomb County, the Office of Substance Abuse is responsible for subcontracting with community agencies to provide publicly funded prevention and treatment services; provide support services in the areas of prevention, program development, evaluation, quality assurance, training, video resources, credentialing test, license review, recipient rights, consumer complaint resolution, data collection and management of covered substance abuse services for Medicaid beneficiaries. The Macomb County Substance Abuse Advisory Council provides a forum for public input on substance abuse services.

SERVICES:The Macomb County Prevention Coalition (MCPC) was established in 1994, under the leadership of the Human Services Coordinating Body. Its mission is to unite education, law enforcement and community leaders in a partnership to provide safe and drug-free environments for our youth. The Macomb County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office serves as the lead agency for this initiative in cooperation with the Macomb Intermediate School District and the Macomb County Office of Substance Abuse.

SERVICES:Comprehensive School Health Education provides alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention, school-based curriculum as part of a program for grades Kindergarten through 12.
Training, Consultation and Technical Assistance in prevention strategies, coalition development, school-community linked services and asset building.
Student Assistance Programming implementation with specialized training for school personnel in developing the referral process and support groups, such as chemical awareness, children of alcoholics and anger management.
Crisis Response Programming which assists schools in developing the process and protocol for response to a crisis.

SERVICES:24-hour telephone counseling, suicide prevention, community information, and referral. Public information program on suicide prevention and sexual assault. Macomb Emergency Response Group (MERG) responds to community traumas. Survivors of Suicide (SOS) support group. Telephone line only, not a walk-in or outpatient facility.
